Comments :

I moved to Parker in 1994 with my three children. My oldest daughter is currently training to be an Officer for the Salvation Army and will continue her education toward a Master's Degree in Ministries. My other daughter will graduate this year with a B.A. Degree in Environmental Science and my son is working as a Panama City Beach Police Officer. I am a member of the Parker Masonic Lodge and Shaddai Shrine Temple. I was a Commissioner on the Parker Planning Board, but recently resigned to run for City Council. Over the past 30 years I have been a self-employed business owner in the trucking industry and rental properties. My past and present educational background includes; (Lakewood Community College, Law Enforcement), (Gulf Coast Criminal Justice Training Academy, Florida Police Standards), (Fire-Fighter 160), and (Certificate of Completion, Florida Planning Officials Training Program, University of Florida Department of Urban & Regional Planning). My greatest concern is the direction of Parker. Over the past 13 years I have observed a steady deterioration. We need a more proactive, not reactive government. Find or create incentives to bring community oriented business to the city. The developers and builders need to be held to agreements made, with consequences should they fail. Definitive timelines set and kept. The unrealistic fear of Parker becoming another Panama City Beach is just that, unrealistic. However, with all the surrounding development, we do have the very realistic possibility of becoming a dumping ground for all the undesirable elements. As a prior Commisioner I have been involved with and tried to keep current on the concerns and issues of the citizens. Communication, understanding, and involvement. Do your part on April 17th. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call.
