Comments :

I HAVE:

• Consistently voted to decrease spending - lower taxes - and tighten fiscal policies.

• Addressed the county's needs with a straight forward, conservative, and business like approach.

• Spent hundreds of hours helping develop, a land-use plan that would allow for the orderly expansion of the county while protecting personal property rights.

• Led the fight to reclaim the county pier property and reclaim and identify 47 beach access properties.

• Helped build new and restore many existing recreational complexes.

• Helped retrofit the incinerator into compliance with the clean air act. Bringing it closer to being self-sustaining, as we enter into new negotiations with the power companies and the operators.

• Worked with board to keep our infrastructure in step with our growth and vice versa.

• Helped bring civility and a spirit of cooperation to the board. With the ability to agree to disagree and still move the county forward.

• Been instrumental in attracting more and higher paying jobs than ever before, resulting in our lowest unemployment rate ever.

• Been a part of the county paving more roads than any other 4-year period in our history.

• Secured property to locate county complex and public library and developed over-all long term plan for development and centralized offices.

• Successfully fought to keep our city marina from becoming hi-rise apartments.

• Helped secure funding for a 7 million dollar state of the art emergency operations center facility at no cost to the county.

• Worked with the municipalities within the county to improve their ability to meet the challenges of the future, water, sewage, debt structure.

• I have been proud to be highly available by phone and in person day or night.

• Since taking office, I have never missed a meeting or a workshop, hearing or even a vote.

• Been instrumental in making Bay County attain one of the highest ratings in freedom of information and availability of documents in compliance to the state government in the sunshine laws.

• When running for the office I promised not to bow, bend or be bought or bullied. I’ve kept that promise. I reaffirm that promise now.

• Instrumental in solving many of problems that have plagued Bay County for years; The pipeline, land use codes, adequate facilities, our parks, beach accesses, and creating more public beach parking.

• I am determined not to create any new ones.

I WILL:

• Continue to fight for lower taxes, higher homestead exemptions benefits and property tax reform.

• Continue to work with the commission on a solution to affordable housing to be completed within 24 months.

• Continue to work to insure the infrastructure continues to parallel the growth of our county.

• Work to complete the 4 Laning of 79, 77, complete the flyovers and see the Thomas Drive Bridge funded and completed. Along with dozens of other projects now in progress.

• Continue to work with my fellow commissioners for a better Bay County.

• Attend to the responsibilities of being your commissioner with the fairness and diligence I have in the past. No matter which district you live in.

• Always treat the people of Bay County with the courtesy, integrity and respect we all deserve.

• Continue to seek every opportunity to insure that we protect our environment within all reasonable extremes.

• Continue to insure that the west Bay sector plan and St. Joe’s commitments are fully realized by Bay County.

• Continue to expand our parks and recreation programs including a spectacular Bay County Pier, Park and Parking facility.

• Continue to monitor and negotiate the incinerator contract until it is completely self-supporting.

• Commit to keep the people of Bay County first. I view my responsibility as one that considers the environment, the tax structure, and the ability for all Bay Countians to be placed first on the list of any issue.

• Continue to let common sense; Good business and integrity dictate my action as your commissioner.
