Comments :

I am a candidate for re-election to Seat 3 on the Beach Mosquito Control District, and would appreciate your vote and support on November 2.

Back before 1952 it was extremely difficult to live on this *island* because the mosquito population was intolerable. Tourism suffered because of it, but the people who lived out here were virtual hermits because of the mosquitoes. In 1952 (and I lived here then) the mosquito control district was formed and has continuously held the pests in check. We are one of the few areas that has not had any West Nile viruses detected, and that is reason to be proud of the job we are doing.

As Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, I am also proud of our record in keeping costs at a minimum while providing some of the most effective control measures. The job of the Commissioners is to make policy decisions and control the budget. We do not get involved in the day to day duties and responsibilities - that is where our outstanding professional staff performs well.

I am proud of being able to participate in so many community, civic, and fraternal activities over the years. Check with your neighbor, they know me!
