Comments :

Campaign Issues:

.) Smart Growth: I support incentives for affordable housing, small business development, limits to suburban sprawl, & height restrictions on high-rise development.

.) Airport Relocation: The citizens voted 55% to 45% against relocation. I do not support the new airport.

.) Network of Bicycling & Walking Trails: I propose bike lanes on all roadways where right of way is available, sidewalks, multi-use paved trails and Safe Routes to all our schools.

.) Good Jobs: Jobs that provide a living wage, health insurance and retirement. We have enough part-time and seasonal jobs. This has to change for the benefit of all citizens.

.) Storm water: Design and retrofit our roadways and community to protect the ecosystem of St. Andrews Bay.

.) Homelessness: Address the problems of the homeless with housing, counseling and jobs training.

.) Transit: Create a more user-friendly transit system with 30 min. headways vs the 1 hour headways of today,. Bike racks on all transit vehicles.

.) Air Quality: The Solid Waste Incinerator, Smurfit & Stone and Gulf Power should all be in strict compliance with the EPA standards. We need scrubbers, filters and cleaner stricter standards for all of these major sources of air pollution. The health of our community depends on it.

.) Traffic calming: Improve safety and reduce speeding in our neighborhoods and community. More than speed humps and roundabouts are needed.

.) Protecting our Water Resources: No to exporting water out of Bay County. No to the Council of 100 plan to privatize water statewide.

.) Creating a new VISION for Bay County: This would include a new Library and a new consolidated County Government complex for easier access for all.

.) Hiring accountable contractors: No more pipline fiascos. The low bidder does not always deliver the best product.

.) Curbside Recycling: Develop a comprehensive program to re-cycle all possible residential, commercial and
light industrial waste.
