Comments :

Why I want to serve YOU: Ordinary citizens and taxpayers -- working jobs, raising families, running small businesses or retired, are not adequately represented on the County Commission. I believe I am the candidate who can best represent their interests and I will work to serve these citizens, not ‘special interests.’

Ideas for improving County Government: As a starting point for structuring a sound, more responsive government, I will work for accountability and fiscal restraint.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE PUBLIC: Make all elected, appointed and paid officials accountable to the public through a strong ethics ordinance. Ensure a county government that is truly in the SUNSHINE and allows full CITIZEN PARTICIPATION in the decision-making process.

FISCAL RESTRAINT: Spend our tax dollars wisely!! Improve the county contracting function. Thoroughly justify large-dollar expenditures; require competitive bids and apply cost-analysis techniques to negotiated contracts. Implement a ‘debarred bidders program’ so we do not reward bad contractors with more of our tax dollars!

MANAGE GROWTH: Promote sound, responsible growth, requiring development to pay for itself - NO NEW TAXES to pay for new development. Plan smart, save tax dollars by working with municipalities for coordinated comprehensive planning, consolidation of services, and protection of natural resources.

PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES: Protect our natural resources by promoting clean, environmentally-conscious economic growth, while preserving our unique ecosystem as a resource for ALL of us to enjoy. Using scientifically-based standards, improve protection of our drinking water and St Andrew Bay, our most important resources.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Diversify! Employ new initiatives to build our economy and create other than tourist-related jobs. Encourage expansion of post secondary education and technical training to prepare a workforce that will attract new industry. Support a convention center. Provide appropriate incentives, including fast-track permitting for commercial/industrial development, and tax breaks in exchange for good-paying jobs. Assist small businesses and encourage entrepreneurship. Protect our military bases from encroachment.

As stated in section 106.011(14), F.S. the candidates running for State, Multicounty, District or Judical office must file with the Department of State Division of Elections, click here for a link to the Division of Elections.
