Statement of Experience

To my fellow Republicans:

Allow me to respectfully ask for your vote, as I seek re-election to the position of Bay County Republican State Committeeman.

Real-life experience in political matters
and campaigns is the true value that a
County State Committeeman (and, for
that matter, a County State Committeewoman)
is, ideally, supposed to bring to a
County Executive Committee.

As we know, a County Executive Committee Chairman provides
daily leadership, the Treasurer counts our money, and the Secretary keeps the minutes.

It is the County State Committeeman, and Committeewoman, who bring to the Executive Committee the years of experience–-the knowledge of past campaign tactics that worked, as well as those that did not work, the knowledge of candidates whose stump speeches were persuasive, as well as those who failed to “light a fire.”

It is the County State Committeeman, and Committeewoman, who can find campaign managers and treasurers for prospective candidates for office, as well as past contributors and fundraisers and volunteer chairmen and phone-bank workers and, for that matter, new Precinct Leaders for membership on our Executive Committee itself.

I know these things, since these are the tasks I have been quietly (most of the time) performing during my past eight (8) years as your State Committeeman.

And, during my eight (8) years as your County Chairman (from 1988 to 1996), I watched (and admired) Tommy Thomas perform these tasks, as our County State Committeeman.

Prior to becoming County Chairman in ‘88, I served as the Precinct Leader for then-Precinct 35, and I still serve in that position today–-some 25 years later! (...even though Mark Anderson has renumbered us as Pcts. 46 and 47...).

Our Precinct Committee continues to work “at the grass roots” and holds monthly workshops at which we telephone Republican voters in our Precinct to advance our Republican Movement, to learn who will need a ride to the polls, and who will need an absentee ballot, and who has a
Democrat living in her or his house
who might consider switching!

This is the kind of real-life political experience I have gradually acquired, and provided to candidates and campaign workers and County Executive Committee Members over the past 30 or so years...and I’ve enjoyed the successes from time to
time...and carry the scars that came with the territory.

Allow me to ask you to keep my experience working for you, and for our Republican Movement.

Thank you.
