Thank you for your interest in learning about the candidates so that you can cast a well informed vote on September 10th. Richard, my husband of 36 years, and I have 6 children and are 17-year Bay Country residents. Five of our children are Bay High graduates and our youngest is a junior at Arnold H.S. We are members of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church.

In 1965, I earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and Art. My 21-year teaching career includes the elementary through university levels. For the past 9 years, I have substitute taught and hold a Master Substitute Instructor certificate.

I have volunteered with many social agencies and worked with governmental agencies as a concerned citizen to address community issues. As an educator and involved parent in my childrens' educations, I have worked at the school and district levels to bring about improvements.

Many improvements are made at the school board level and I want to make a difference. If elected, I will try to increase community awareness regarding our school system. Improved communication will result in a better understanding of why our system operates the way it does. Developing a child's ability to read is a passion of mine, and I will encourage more community members to become reading mentors.

I am highly motivated to find the 'defect' in our educational assembly line that prevents a student from graduating. We need better tracking methods as to what happens to these students and to be more aggressive in our efforts to facilitate the students return to school.

My business background will be a valuable tool to keep money in the classroom. I DO MY HOMEWORK! I am result oriented when it comes to approving funding for programs. Since I am a taxpayer too, I will look in every nook and cranny to make sure the budget dollars are well spent. I am presently researching the cost-effectiveness of the current early release program.

I realize I cannot move mountains, but am confident that I can fix some molehills. Please help me do this by giving me your valuable vote, and feel free to contact me at 233-1526 or children1st2002@hotmail.com.
