Comments :

I have and I will continue to adamantly support citizen participation in their government; fiscal responsibility and accountability; growth management through intelligent and thoughtful planning and improving the quality of life in Mexico Beach.

In a short 22 months, under my mayorship, we have accomplished:

3. 1st reading of an ordinance to allow an additional $25,000 Homestead Exemption to qualifying citizens 65 years and older;

4. Citizens comments were moved to the front of the regular council meetings;

5. All items scheduled for vote are opened to public hearing/citizen comments prior to voting;

6. Quarterly newsletter to keep citizens and property owners updated on current issues;

7. City web site is currently under construction;

8. Citizens Advisory Task Force as another forum for the citizens to address their concerns;

9. Vision Plan is in the final stages of completion;

10. Addressing the outdated issues in the City's Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan;

11. Tom Sawyer's Project to beautify our parks through private donations and volunteer labor;

12. City wide paving project;

13. Upgrading Mexico Beach Business Center to address safety issues, parking, drainage and appearance;

14. Coordinating with Bay County to clean out ditches;

15. Addressing storm water drainage with a large scale project to clean and maintain our canal system;

16. Pier Park Project that includes bathroom facilities, improved parking and extension of the pier.

17. Allocating 50% of utility taxes for future pier improvements and extensions;

18. With few exceptions, the canal has remained opened during my term;

19. Installed 15 dune walkovers;
