Comments :

Dear Friend,

Thank you for visiting this website! I appreciate your interest in my campaign.

I have lived the majority of my life in Bay County along with the past 7 generations of my family. Along with being a Porter came a strong belief in community service and always doing what is right…not what is convenient. For this reason, I have decided to run for Bay County Property Appraiser. I feel my community is in danger from unreasonable increases in property assessments and the crushing burden of property taxes.

I come from a long line of Bay County residents that have always believed that smaller government is better government. Our local government spending has increased at unprecedented rates in the past few years due mostly to increases in property assessments. Too many of us have had our tax bill increase 100% or more in a year with no viable supporting reasons. At some point, we as citizens must say enough!

I can not promise to cure all of the problems relating to the Bay County Property Appraisers Office, but I can assure you of three things if elected.

1. Reasonable assessments supported by market driven data. (i.e., achievable market prices)

2. Fair treatment and outcomes from the office. At the end of the day, we will be a customer service organization if I am Property Appraiser.

3. Your voice will be heard by those that levy taxes on you. I will be an advocate for the people in local government and I will use all my connections in Tallahassee to reform an unfair system to the benefit of Bay County residents.

We have a real chance to reform the way the Property Appraisers Office does business and I am asking for your help. Together, there are no limits to what we can accomplish.

Sincerely

Jeff Porter
