Comments :

I am running for the Ward 3, Panama City Commission , because I truely care for the people of Ward 3 and for all of Panama City. I was born and raised in Panama City and have lived on Oak Avenue since 1956.
I received the majority of my education in Bay County:
- Graduated in 1970 from Bay High School.
- Received my Associate of Science in Nursing in 1972 and my Associate of Arts in General Education n 1975 from Gulf Coast Community College.
- Graduated in 1985 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from FSU. When classes were held at the old Shipyard prior to the current campus being built.
- Graduated in 1999 from FSU in Tallahassee with Master’s of Science in Nursing as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
I have worked for over 25 years as a Registered Nurse, most of it at Gulf Coast Medical Center and the last 8 years as an ARNP. Since April of 2002, I became a small business owner when I opened Sister’s Medical Clinic, a Family Practice in Parker.
I am Adjunct Faculty for the College of Nursing at FSU, teaching in both regular classes and on line classes for the RN to BSN program and the Master’s program. Also serve as a preceptor (mentor) for the BSN and the Master’s students.
I volunteer at the St. Andrew’s Community Medical Clinic (a free clinic for the economically disadvantaged).
I belong to the Daughters of the Nile, a philanthropic organization whom prime directive is to raise money for the Shrine hospitals and the children in the hospital.

Qualifications for the Job:
- Decision making: My years as a Registered Nurse whether as a staff nurse or ICU Supervisor or House Supervisor have taught me how to make decisions. First you have to gather the facts, then do your research and then make a decision based on what is best for the patient.
As a Nurse Practitioner, I listen to my patients. I find out what their problems or symptoms are. Then I compare it with my knowledge and experience and finally I make a decision as to their diagnosis. In the case of Ward 3, I look for what is good for the citizens of the Ward and ultimately the citizens of Panama City.
- Budgeting: As a Supervisor, I was involved in the budget process. I have prepared budgets and know how to stay within the budget.
- Small Business Owner: I have to make decisions every day not only about my patients but also about my business.
- Self Awareness of Limitations: If I do not know or understand something, I am not ashamed to say “I don’t know” and ask for help.

Platform:
- Responsible Development: I am not against development. In order to keep the quality and the “flavor “ of our town, we must be diligent in assessing the growth of our city. A revised comprehensive city plan is needed to ensure that our current infrastructure will be able to support future development.
- Fiscal Responsibility: With new development, the citizens of Panama City should not have to pay for any new or revised infrastructure.
- Common Sense, Courtesy, and Integrity: You the taxpayers of Panama City pay the salary of the elected officials. Hence you should be treated with courtesy and respect any time you attend a meeting. And your City officials should listen to you..
